Daydreaming Again
I have always been a daydreamer. Yes, while sitting,standing,talking, any time of the day I start dreaming or just think something else and I get so engrossed that I completely forget whats around me. And these are not any princess dreams, but just recollecting what happened before or thinking about what might happen if I do such and such a thing. But tuesday's experience left me embrassed and the rest amused. In the status meeting, there was a discussion on some technical issue which wasn't related to my project and wasn't interesting. And me, well I was wondering will I ever make it as a good manager. Will the employees listen to me? Having a bad temper, what if I punched people who didnt listen?! Then my attention shifted to a tree I could see through the window, wondering how old the tree might be, what if I lived that long and I had to stand in the same place for life!! And then my manager called my name. Before I could realize what was happening he shot a question at me, "what is your opinion on this? ".I shook my head and said I agree with T. Everyone looked at me in bewilderment. Then my manager calmly said "T has not given his opinion yet". All I had left to say was sorry and looked at the slide on the projected screen, commented something stupid and continued taking minutes. The end of the day, I had the most embrassing moment in recent times.

Are you a gemini by any chance? My wife used to do the same things :) She used to think of that after and before action stuff and also she used to think if she can be a good manager :)

@nep- your wife doesnt do it anymore? How did she stop? I want tips, not that I want to get rid of this habit but atleast not daydream in meetings :)

i too daydream in meetings n presentations, but the only difference is i will be seeing the projector screen n not out of the window... lol
I have a better solution to this! Sleep shamelessly in meetings, that's what one of my team mate does and no one bothers to wake him up for his opinion!
Not to mention, even I try it sometimes!

hey what is this thing against geminis eh ;) ?? On second thoughts geminis actually are really great day dreamers. Maybe becoz their attention span is too short :) Thats why I think I have started to doze off even in 1 to 1 meetings :))
:)) Deepthi..man, what a situation! But honestly, sometimes these meetings can be totally pointless when they aren't relevant enough to you, or when you don't carry away anything useful. At meetings like these, i'm usually so irritable and aware of all the work waiting at my desk, that the fury keeps me alert. Try it sometime :)

Few years back when I returned home for my vacations and jus one week was left to go back to college, I met with an accident .The result was a splintered hand and a painful impeded walk. All the people I met in those six weeks asked the only question like a 24/7 news channel wats wrong and the answer was… met with an accident. Next question was obviously how and now used to start my embarrassment when I used to say…
I was thinking of something while waiting for the signal to go green though I started to move with the traffic but was still in my thoughts n so couldn’t see a cow crossing the road and my kinetic hit the poor animal that too on its BACKSIDE the moment I used to give this update of my accident especially smashing on the BAKYARD of a cow everybody used to start laughing saying that how could I do that.
Believe me those six weeks were one the most embarrassing ones of my life…and the hit was so tough that I couldn’t even remember what I was thinking of as if I have lost my memory for those few minutes.
Just hoping that the cow was alrite.

@anonymous2, one of my family members had a similar incident, but not serious one though, so I certainly get an idea of how embrassing it would be.
